If you are experiencing back pain and need something to deal with it then look no further than a chiropractor. Of course there are several options other than chiropractic treatment and we will discuss some of them, and look at the pros and cons. Often times alternative treatments is looked at a negative light, some even saying that it’s all just a scam. Though there are a lot of scammers out there, there are a lot of legitimate people who only wants to help and share their methods to the world. Let’s take a look at the different methods of treating back pain, and their effectiveness.
When it comes to back pain, from injury or otherwise, it is always a good idea to first consult a physician to see if it’s anything serious that would need surgery, only after consulting a doctor should you then consider alternative options. Chiropractic therapy is the most likely option a doctor would recommend if ever, so we will talk more about that later and concentrate more on the other alternative therapies.
One option you can take, if the back pain is not caused by a serious injury, is getting a massage. Though relaxing, and a lot of people including doctors get massages, most doctors do not believe that it does anything more than relax the muscle and relieve stress, at least that is what most doctors tell me during my interview with them. By no means am I saying that massages do nothing for the body, but there is a lack of evidence when it comes to the outrageous medical effects some therapists say. If your back pain is caused by stress or overwork, a massage is a good option to relax and help get rid of that stress.
Another thing that I actually have a lack of experience to fully analyze, due to my fear of needles, is acupuncture. There have been studies that show that it has some effects that allow people to heal faster, relax, and feel less pain. One interesting documentary even showed its effectiveness on infections, demonstrating how it could heal the infected eye of one of the member of the documentary crew, though there was also something about electrical pulses from the human body being used so I have my doubts about the whole thing. Many people, billions even, swears on its healing powers, but I guess it’s something that you have to try out for yourself to know.
Now, let’s talk about chiropractors. Unlike the other two, when it comes to spine care specialists, doctors often recommends these guys. They are pretty much closer to conventional doctors than the therapists of massage therapy and acupuncture. Going through courses and sometimes even needing to take additional things like Nutrition or something similar in the medical field of study. Most of their therapies, though still facing criticism, are actually medically accepted, so much so that professional sports teams often have at least one chiropractor in their staff for their players. Chiropractic therapy has shown significant results when it comes to recovery and increased physical performance of athletes receiving it.
I highly recommend chiropractic therapy among the three, but if you feel compelled to try the others to see its effectiveness, please remember to first check with a physician when it comes to injuries and chronic pains before undergoing anything. Though, a good massage once in a while is actually quite relaxing for anyone.
